Elk River Evergreens is a family owned and operated Christmas tree farm located in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.  Brothers-in-law, David Ellis and Gary Edwards, planted their first crop of 5,000 Fraser fir Christmas trees in 1975.  Today, the operation includes over 400,000 trees growing on 12 different farms in the Western North Carolina and East Tennessee area.

David and Gary are committed to producing only the finest quality Fraser fir with an environmentally friendly operation.  Land and water conservation along with careful use of chemicals to control pests and weeds is practiced at all ERE farm locations.

In 2002, ERE added a Choose ‘n Cut operation to their primarily wholesale business.  Located on an old apple orchard near the NC-TN state line on Highway 19-E, the Orchard Farm quickly became a prime attraction for families who wanted to harvest their own Christmas tree.  In 2005, a new Choose ‘n Cut farm was opened just one mile from the Orchard Farm.  The Ellis Family Farm offered an expanded selection of quality Fraser fir trees available for choose ‘n cut to better meet the needs of customers.

Elk River Evergreens is a member of the Avery County Christmas Tree and Nurserymen's Association, the North Carolina Christmas Tree Association, and the National Christmas Tree Association.
